What Customers Say About Garmin GPS 60Cx Handheld GPS Navigator:

This GPS is very easy to use and is very durable when used out in the elements.

I immediately re-entered my data and re-submitted my order. Placed order and paid for overnight delivery on Thusday May 21. Within minutes I realized that I made a typo when entering my credit card expiration date. Amazon doesn't care. Amazon made NO effort to deliver on time at all. As hours went by I noticed that no order shipping confirmation came. Their computer then automatically recalculated my shipping terms at their discretion, upon my re-submission. This behavior has alienated me completely.

Knew what I was getting. Product is super, upgrade from older model already owned. Ground service via UPS is 3 hours. It was still Thursday. Delivery on time was easy, NO air required.

I rested easy. What was particularly annoying was that every email communication from Amazon was a one-sided conversation. Amazon investigated, reported that my order will not ship overnight after all, that the typo I entered created a pay decline, affected re-submission (punishment). As Amazon web page indicated that any order placed within the next four hours guaranteed overnight delivery. This new model was birthday present for 65 year old dad, to match mine.

Amazon did not budge. Any issue cannot be discussed. The customer is prohibited from answering back. I inquired. Item ships from Phoenix. Purchase did NOT make it for birthday event.

Owned Garmin before. Amazon emails full of euphemisms thanking me for my cooperation and understanding, none of which I expressed. Amazon exercises control over whole transaction, terms and delivery in spite of my payment or my wishes. ALL Amazon's fault.

I don't need a supplier that spies on me and controls me when I pay up in good faith. I live in Arizona. Thought that all was well. I've lost all respect for this overbearing retailer.

A $15 credit was offered for my inconvenience. Needed it for weekend. I have purchased from Amazon many times before and shopped Amazon many times before as demonstrated by the SPAM email advertisements I receive from them "knowing" what I recently viewed. Hype rules.

I knew this was a great unit because many of my friends already own this model and like it. I couldn't be more pleased with the purchase and happy that I followed their lead.

It gets a better satellite fix and zooms in closer. This is a great mid-range GPSr for those who enjoy Geocaching, or just like to hike and get out of doors. I use it mainly for Geocaching, and it is much better than my old Magellan 210. I haven't purchased any of the maps yet, but I think that will come in the near future, because being able to see the roads as I drive from cache to cache would be nice. All in all, a great device, and I would whole-heartedly recommend this GPSr.

Using Google maps and the software for the device, we downloaded waypoints for all of the places we wanted to visit during our trip.We walked/explored the resort town on the way to pick up the rented car and never got lost. Also, this replaced another Garmin that suddenly stopped working when it was dropped on grass. We constantly switched from pedestrian to automobile mode. We just returned from a trip.

After more than 15 hours on the road we used the receiver to navigate, in the dark, on roads we had never traveled, to bring us back to the hotel. First, we downloaded a waypoint for our hotel to make certain the taxi driver at the airport didn't "take us for a long ride." Once at the hotel, using Google Maps and a notebook computer, and the cord that comes with the device, we downloaded a waypoint for the place we were going to pick up a rented car. We also loaded waypoints for the nearest grocery store so we could pick up some "munchies" for the hotel room and our trips. We've had this receiver now for two years.Like others, I was a disappointed to discover that I had to pay extra for maps. It is easy to lose when pre-occupied with taking pictures and exploring/shopping. Each time we parked the rented car, we marked it as a waypoint so we could find it again.

We used it in a rented kayak too, to find our way back. We took more than one wrong turn and missed more than one street, but the receiver quickly recalculated the route and put us back on track.

Second, if your batteries are running low, switch them out before you start driving on a super-highway in a strange town. At first I was a little reluctant to purchase this GPS.Having said that, I hope that person who designed this receiver received a bonus / promotion.

We had spare AA batteries just in case the re chargeables wore out. Once we got the car, we drove to supermarkets and took our supplies back to the hotel.

Then, we took off to visit several tourist attractions ranging from hiking trails to places in urban settings, to ocean adventures and and museums. Two things we've learned: Put the GPS on a lanyard that goes around your neck so you do not lose it.

Third, you will not lose much by turning off all the sound notifications. It is a well designed device.
